Tour of the Maxo Vanka Murals, Lunch & Shopping in Millvale
Friday, July 19 – Bus leaves at 10:00 am
It’s not just the story of one man’s journey to America; it’s the story of all of us. Maxo Vanka’s 25 powerful murals are one of Pittsburgh’s hidden gems. Painted in two intense periods – 1937 and 1941— in a church high above Millvale, the murals’ timeless tales leave viewers awestruck.
We will leave the library at 10:00 am for an 11:00 am tour of the Maxo Vanka Murals at St. Nicholas Croation Church. We will then go to Sprezzatura Restaurant in Millvale and finish up the afternoon with shopping at some of Millvale’s quaint little stores that include: Abeille Voyante Tea Co, Steel City Salts, Lemontree Coffee, B Sides, McWalker Yarns, Yetter’s Candies, The Attic (vinyl record store), Jean Marc Bakery, Millvale Market, Lincoln Pharmacy and maybe stop by Millvale Library. We should return by 3:30 pm.
Sign-ups begin on Wednesday, June 12 at 10:00 am either by phone or in person. The cost will be $65. Space is limited and payment is due Wednesday, July 3rd. If the trip sells out, please get on the wait list! There are always cancellations.
